NRF Student Challenge 2021-2022

Overview:

For the 2022 NRF Foundation Student Challenge, teams competed in the business case competition for a chance to earn tuition scholarships and industry recognition. Teams were tasked with acting as members of Kohl’s product development team and had the opportunity to develop a new private label brand that embodies the meaning of diversity and promotes equity and inclusion through product assortment, marketing strategy and pricing.

The project required a developed 30-slide pitch deck which included market research, a marketing and financial plan, a 5-8-piece collection, and a distribution plan. My team and I created MODfit, a trend-focused, fashion-forward adaptive clothing line for women.

MODfit embraces diversity and inclusion by providing fashionable products to a marginalized group, addressing the lack of stylish clothing in the market, and bringing an in-store experience that was not previously available. Our collection designed for Spring/Summer 2022 is titled, “Wild Optimism”. We developed this theme to radiate joy and emphasize our radical message of inclusive positivity.

I developed the prints of this collection to emulate our theme and radiate positivity and optimism.

To further display our dedication to the project, my team and I produced a sample of the blouse from the collection. This blouse features magnetic closures and Velcro at the shoulder, a wide boat neck with elastic, shirring at the waist, and bishop sleeves for, all to accommodate the needs of the physically disabled.
